Thamma Movie Review: Maddock Horror Comedy Universe Strikes Again with this Vampire Drama!
The madness of the MHCU (Maddock Horror Comedy Universe) returns with Thamma, a film that blends romance, supernatural action, and tongue-in-cheek humour into one wild ride. Filled with quirky characters, universe-building surprises, the film is designed to keep audiences grinning and glued to the screen, especially once the interval hits.
Our Review
Thamma, at its core, is a romantic story that integrates the world of Betal and other characters from the MHCU. Thamma starts off slow and decent, but it is the second half that is an absolute winner. Ayushmann does a good job with his comedic timing and is decent in the intense scenes. Rashmika understands her assignment and does justice to her character. Nawaz’s presentation feels unnecessarily over the top and comedic, especially in the first half. Paresh Rawal shines in the emotional scenes, and Geeta Agrawal provides solid support. The first half takes its time, building chemistry and atmosphere with a good background score.
The second half really works well for the film. The way the makers have handled the universe building with interesting cameos is seamless. The laughter generated in the cameo sequences through callbacks and references deserves appreciation. There are a few money shots that give you whistle-worthy moments. Although some Betal traits come off as comedic when they should have been intense, the cinematography works well, especially in the terrace fight. The VFX fits nicely. Overall, Thamma is an entertaining watch and a nice addition to the universe.
